It's been so long since my first post. Boo! Our computer's hard drive crashed, and it was out of commission for awhile. We are up and running now though!
Last week we had our first real snow of this winter, and I kind of loved how it looked outside. Going out in it... not so much. We all stayed in during those first two days of snow covered everything. Thankfully, my hubby could work from home, and I made a loaf of country bread to go with some tomato soup for lunch that day. I think I found this easy recipe on Allrecipes.com awhile back. Nothing better than some warm soup on a cold cold day, and this dense country bread is so easily customized!
Mix:
3 Cups Flour
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1 Teaspoon Salt
Then Add Liquid and Fat of some kind:
1 1/2 Cups Water
1/4 Cup Oil
Bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes.
You can use any kind of flour on hand, and throw in some spices to change up the flavor of this bread. For a sweet bread, you could replace the water with juice or milk and add cinnamon or another "sweet" spice. You can also replace some of the fat with applesauce. Yum! Oh, the possibilities!! I was going for a savory bread, so I added 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp onion powder, and 1 tsp dill. I also sprayed the top with oil and put garlic powder, salt and dill on top. Just mound the bread on an oiled sheet pan and bake. How easy is that?! I think it turned out great!
Hopefully, I will be able to devote more time to my new blog hobby. I have a few projects in the works, and I'm really looking forward to sharing them! The major one occupying my brain is new decor for Skyler's room. Ever since we had our fire (did I mention that half our house burnt down 4 months ago?) I've been wanting to toddler-ize my son's bedroom. We saved his furniture, but lost all of his "baby room decor." Now I'm moving towards a rustic baseball themed room. Of course, everything I do or find needs to be rental friendly. What a fun challenge!!
